A voice to be remembered

Mike Delouis is a well known vocalist in Brooklyn, NY, particularity in the neighborhoods that surround Prospect Park. In fact, he is often referred to as the “Tenor of Park Slope”, by those who have had the pleasure of hearing him sing.

Mike was born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to a Haitian immigrant family, where traditional and contemporary music was a big part of everyday life. He began singing at 5 years old, at his elementary school’s Glee club, and continued to develop his singing talents in middle school, high school, as well as his then home parish at St. Ignatius of Loyola.

At Plattsburgh, he sang with the chorale, the cardinal singers, & the gospel choir. It was here that he learned to cantor, and lead the congregation at the Pope John 23rd Newman Center.

After graduation, Mike became one of the lead cantors at St. Savior Church in Park Slope, for 10 years, where he also sang at numerous weddings, Christenings, funerals, and special events.

In 2015, he put on a concert called “A Little Night Music with Mike Delouis” at St. Savior Church. The concert was a tribute to his grandmother, cousin, and grandfather all who passed in the years prior. This was a defining moment for him, in which he knew that he wanted to pursue music as a career. That same year, he made it to the top ten singers at the Immerse Christian Music competition held in Nashville, TN.

Mike is currently the lead cantor at the historic parish of St. Teresa of Avila in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, he has also sung for the Archdiocese of New York, Brooklyn, & Queens where he sung at young adult masses, holy hours, and social events. He has had the opportunity to lead music worship at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown Manhattan (America’s parish), and has recorded with John the Martyr, a New York City based funk / soul band, and is a songwriter himself. Mike is fluent in English, French, & Haitian Creole, and is able to sing in Latin, French, Haitian Creole, Spanish, Italian, Swahili, & German. Singing is how Mike expresses himself the best, he loves to help people through his songs, as it provides fellowship, a sense of Spirituality, and allows everyone to pray together. Without a doubt, it is one of the greatest blessings, joys, & loves of his life (& fried Chicken).
